Who was Philip Webb ?

Philip Webb (1831-1915) 

Philip Webb met William Morris whilst working in the Oxford office of George Edmund Street. Webb's first commission was for Morris's Red House this included the furniture. He designed table glass for Powell's, and was Morris & Co's chief furniture designer from 1861 until George W. Jack took over the in the 1880's.

He designed Metalwork for Longdon whose London offices were next door to Morris & Co's. He drew almost all of the birds and animals in the Morris firm's wallpaper and fabric designs.
