Ford Madox Brown (1821-1893)
Brown worked closely with the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood but was never made a member. He met William Morris in 1856. Later in 1861 he became a founding member of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co (later Morris & Co).

He designed early Morris & Co furniture including a green painted bedroom suite for Morris’s own house in Kelmscott. From 1878 until his death he was involved in the decoration of Manchester Town Hall.
